About me
I’m Diogo Gonçalves, a software engineer and private investor based in Lisbon.
For the past decade, I have worked in software development, building and maintaining systems where clarity, reliability, and good judgment matter. Alongside that work, I have developed a deep interest in investing, business analysis, and the process through which companies create value over long periods.

Writing
I created this website to think more clearly in public.
Writing forces me to move beyond the feeling that I understand something. It requires me to define the central claim, organise the evidence, consider alternative explanations, and identify what remains uncertain.
The essays published here will generally cover:
- Business and investment analysis
- Competitive advantages and industry structures
- Capital allocation and long-term value creation
- Software engineering and system design
- Tools connecting research, data, and decision-making
- Lessons from building practical projects
Some articles will be detailed company analyses. Others will be shorter research notes prompted by a company result, an industry development, a technical problem, or a change in my thinking.
I do not intend to publish according to an artificial schedule. I would rather publish when I have something useful and sufficiently developed to say.

Investing, Software, and Journey
I am Diogo Gonçalves: I invest, design software, and write to clarify decisions. Here you will find my investment thesis, product principles, and learning notes throughout my career. Explore the essays to go deeper into these ideas.
